- Being tense, or angry: When you’re anxious, or angry, you may begin to drive the same way. You may pick up speed as you think about what made you angry, or because you’re paying attention to your anger instead of your driving.
- You’re running late: Quite obvious, being late to something is a great way to get caught for speeding. You have a deadline to meet, you’re behind for a meeting, you were stuck in traffic… Whatever the reason, you put that pedal to the metal and get caught for it.
- Impatience: Another simple reason that people speed is because they are impatient. They find themselves bored with the highway, ready to get to the event or home, and they push it for the simple fact of they want to be elsewhere.
- Thrill: Some people speed merely because they enjoy the thrill of going fast, and want to find that feeling.
- Stuck in a group of cars: Plenty of people speed by what feels like necessity. For instance, you’re driving in a group of cars that is going 12 over the speed limit, so you match pace.

Take a breather before jumping on the road
If you know you’re upset, angry, or your brain is in over drive, take a beat before hitting the road. Stretch, make a phone call, release some stress in your own way. The best way to avoid aggressive speeding, is to release the aggression beforehand.
Leave for your destination earlier
Being in a rush to get where you’re going is typically a result of leaving later than you should. So, to avoid your need for speed, leave earlier than you typically do. This is a simple solution that can make a huge difference.
Cruise control
This fantastic tool that we all have in our vehicle is there to prevent our speeding. Not to mention, cruise control is also a great way to save gas on long drivers, by reducing fluctuation in your speed. If you find that you keep hitting the pedal a little too hard, flip on that cruise control and let it do the heavy lifting.
